Lean Manufacturing Engineer

Main Tasks:

  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, equipment, and materials.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with engineering design staff concerning product design, tooling, materials and equipment to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate potential future manufacturing requirements.
  • Recommends methods for improving worker efficiency and reduce waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing work flow, relocation of work stations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
  • Continuous improvement facilitator, trainer and implementation specialist.
  • Able to lead or mentor a small group of manufacturing engineers or technical assembly personnel on a periodic or project basis.

Requirements Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four year technical or engineering college or university plus Five (5) to six (6) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business, technical, governmental, or professional journals and regulations.
  • Must be able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as percentages, fractions, ratios and proportional to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Working knowledge of available software packages such as MRP/ERP, Microsoft products, Project software, CAD, Pro/Engineering, SolidWorks.
  • Project management, practical mechanical and electronics knowledge and experience required.
  • Lean manufacturing experience required.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to sit at desk 90% of the workday, ability to use a computer 70% of the workday.
