Sales Engineer Industry

Oustide Sales Engineer or Representative (OSR) at KNL, is a part of a sales team which is responsible for the sales of Kistler’s solutions, products and services into the Benelux market. OSR is directly engaged in building relationships with existing and new customers, promoting the benefits of Kistler’s products portfolios, hunting for sales opportunities, and expanding Kistler’s marketshares. OSR visits customers facilities, meets deciders and influencers as much as possible. OSR acts as an exclusive representative of Kistler.

OSR is an engineer or equivalent, understands customers needs, applications, business processes and industrial strategy. OSR makes proposals and quotations, negotiates orders, takes initiatives and provides a proactive approach to raise the results and enlarge the sales in volume and in quality.

OSR reports to the Kistler’s Business Units (BU) managers, implements the relevant BU’s strategy into the local market, adapts it to the local needs and share market informations within the Kistler’s organization.

OSR is accountable of the sales turnover, accordingly to objectives and targets, for a region and/or a customers list.


  1. Main Tasks
  • Sales (90% of the activity)
    • Take initiative and actions for prospecting new customers and for developing existing ones.
    • As an outstanding Kistler’s contact to customer, develop sales turnover by visiting customers as an exclusive Kistler’s representative.
    • Investigate about customers activities and organization, evaluates short and longterm potential, promotes Kistler’s products, solutions and services thanks to persuasive advises and a good technical knowledge.
    • Negotiate orders and contracts with customers relevant departments.
    • Responsible for maintening customers good satisfaction and for supervising all orders and services activities.
    • Build up a professional network, participate and provide support to marketing activities like digital communication, exhibitions, trade associations …etc.
    • Maintain and update in real time customers data bases thanks to a proactive usage of our CRM system
  • Reporting and forecasts 
    • According to company processes, formalize and provide all commercial informations and experienced market facts for helping BU’s in planning and strategy developpement
    • Responsible for regular reporting and forecasts
    • Give active contribution and opinion to colleagues, BU’s and any upper level
  • Maintain Technical skills
    • Maintain a good technical knowledge in relevant Kistler’s products and applications, in personnal autonomy or  thanks to provided company trainings and support.
    • Manage and maintain together with ISR local demo and test materials
  1. Competencies
  • Mandatory excellent communicational skills in English and Dutch (& Flamish) languages (behavior, verbal and written)
  • Good technical skills in any domains and good sciences understanding
  • Good industrial business understanding and business administration basis
  • Understanding international cultures, good understanding of French is an advantage
  • Able to build strong relationship with the customers‘ technical departments as well as purchasing, management and R&D teams
  • Good professional knowhow in IT (MS office suite, ERP, CRM …etc)
  • Sales skills and customer focused, service minded attitude
  • Well organized, manage priorities, efficient
  • Accurate, reliable, effective personality
  • Team player, proactive
  • Resilient and automus 
  • Not reluctant to frequent travelling
  1. Requirements Profile
  • Higher education in a technical (mechanical, electrical, electronics, mechatronics, industrial production and processes …) area
  • Technical knowledge in instrumentation and physical measurment
  • Significant experience in production industry as sales engineer promoting high tech products and solutions (automation, production supervision, instruments, IT, sensors, special machinery, …)
  • Successful Experience and recognized knowledge of plastic injection industry is an advantage
  1. Other
  • Position is attached to Eemnes office. Home office is possible.
  • Ideal living area : Eindhoven region.
  • Position may naturally evoluate after few years on board. If proved skills Kistler group may propose various jobs opportunities in other locations.
  • BU’s allocation and region to cover may change accordingly to the market situation or the company strategy
