Technical Sales Engineer – Ireland

The Kistler Group is a Swiss high-tech company and the global market leader in dynamic measurement technology.

    Kistler is recruiting an experienced technical sales engineer in Ireland, responsible for sales of Industrial Process Control (IPC) products with a primary focus on Plastics Injection Moulding and Production Monitoring. This position will be home based and requires the candidate to live within the defined sales area of Ireland.

      Main Tasks:

        The sales engineer is responsible for managing existing accounts and for searching for potential customers that could benefit from Kistler products or services:

      • Establishing new customers and maintaining existing relationships with customers through regular communication via e-mail/phone as well as by visiting the customer on a periodic basis
      • Interpreting customer requirements and then encouraging the customer that a Kistler product or service will best satisfy their needs in terms of quality, price and delivery
      • Providing quotations and negotiating contract terms, to meet both customer and company needs
      • Negotiating and closing sales by agreeing terms and conditions
      • Offering after-sales support services
      • Administering customer accounts
      • Analysing costs and sales
      • Preparing reports for main office
      • Meeting regular sales targets
      • Recording and maintaining customer contact data using CRM software
      • Coordinating projects
      • Supporting marketing activities by attending trade shows, conferences and other events
      • Performing technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet customer needs
      • Providing technical assistance and product training (both pre- and post-sales)
      • Liaising with other members of the sales team and other technical experts from the Kistler group companies
      • Providing training and producing support material for other members of the sales team
      • Able to support both customers and colleagues in hardware, software and services
      Requirements Profile:

      • An extensive track record in technical sales and business development is required (at least 5 years’ experience in technical sales is required)
      • Industrial Automation application experience, ideally within the Plastics Industry and/or the Medical Device manufacturing industry
      • Experienced sales professional with proven ability to achieve sales targets for products and services
      • Must be proactive, resourceful and used to independent working
      • Experience with using a CRM system is required
      • Excellent presentation and communication skills
      • Must have a good ability to learn new concepts and receptive to fresh ideas
      • Degree level educated in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
      • Knowledge of Industrial Process Control and Automation products and their applications
      • Experience in PLC’s and EMS systems would be beneficial
      • Product training in Germany and Switzerland will be provided
      • This is a field sales role that will require the candidate to travel extensively throughout Ireland and occasionally in the UK
      • Full driving licence is mandatory
