Sales and Application Engineer

Kistler is looking for a charismatic Sales and Application Engineer to join our dynamic Sales team in Novi, MI! The position will be an integral part of the team to achieve the sales goals of the assigned Kistler Engine, and Welding business units. They will provide both business development to for market entry of products, and acquisition of new customers in growth segments to position Kistler as a leading supplier in North America. This will entail frequent visits to customers for product demonstrations, technical presentations, and strategic customer solution discussions.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Regularly meets with and gains an understanding of key customer needs and desires in the product are defined.
  • Identifies opportunities for sales and new product offerings in the assigned product areas.
  • Generates appointments and schedules customer meetings and presentations, including report generation of important customer visits and events.
  • Evaluation of customer requirements and preparation of RFQs
  • Supports the introduction of Kistler products with customers through direct on-site support potentially including product installation and training for customer engineers and technicians.
  • Supports the market development of Service and Rental business opportunities in the product area.
  • Gains competitive market analysis information and helps develop sales and marketing strategies for specific market sectors with continuous elaboration of competitor and market information.
  • Definition and execution of measures and activities for strengthening relation with existing customers with the target to extend the business with these customers
  • Use of the CRM system according to the rules: e.g. account information, visit information, opportunity management
  • Participates at trade shows for product area and follows up on opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited four (4) year college preferred plus experience in technical sales; or equivalent.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for sales and new product offerings in the assigned product areas.
  • Experience in direct on-site support including product installation and training for customer engineers and technicians is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Self-Reliant, adaptable with a positive and motivated personality.
  • Competent with ERP and CRM systems (SAP). Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically MS Excel.
  • Physical requirements: ability to sit at a desk 90% of workday; ability to use a computer 80% of workday. Ability to lift products and equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Up to 50% travel required for application support, trade show and training at Kistler, Vendor and/or Customer sites.
